Rita Lafleur (Vaillancourt) – 1920 – 2017

Obituary for Rita Lafleur
Lafleur Rita (Vaillancourt)
1920 – 2017
With a song in her heart and a smile on her face, Rita went home to be with Larry, the love of her life, on the morning of July 26.
Born in Wakefield, Rita was happiest when surrounded by family and friends, to whom she showed unconditional love and friendship. When she wasn’t hosting a party or gathering, she loved gardening, ballroom dancing, golf, bridge and cross-country skiing.
She and Larry had been married for over 63 years when he passed away in 2012.
Rita was predeceased by her parents, Helen (Nellie) Ryan and Léger Vaillancourt, her sister Marjorie (Harold) and her brothers Vincent (Mary) and Victor (Jean). She will be profoundly missed by her children Anne-Marie (Mike), Paul and Robert (Janet), and by her brother Hector (Sue). Rita had three grandchildren, who were so very close to her heart: Léanne, Paul André (Alyssa) and Marc Alain (Emmalyne). Rita’s wonderful sense of humour and generosity will live on in all those who were close to her.
We would like to pay a special tribute to Rosa, Catherine, Carole, Christine, Linda and Cindy, the incredible staff at Le Manoir du Village de Low, for their exceptional kindness, compassion and professionalism in Mom’s last year. They were a true gift to Rita and we cannot praise them enough!
Family and friends are invited to gather, to remember all the good times in Rita’s life at the McGarry Memorial Chapel, 176 Route 105, Wakefield on Thursday, August 17 from 9:30 to 11:00am followed by a Funeral Mass at St-Clément Church in Farm Point at 11:30 am.
